About BWP 2012: Unemployed in America: Causes, Consequences, Solutions

Join us for this year’s Building Workforce Partnerships: Unemployed in America: Causes, Consequences, Solutions.

America’s working people are still experiencing the profound impacts of the Great Recession. Officially, over 13 million workers are unemployed, 11 percent of whom have been out of work for two years or longer. The numbers are much higher when including the under-employed and discouraged. To get back to pre-recession employment levels, we must move at least 7 million unemployed people to full time work. Policy makers at all levels are struggling to find solutions to this jobs crisis.

This intensive training event will focus on the macroeconomics of our current economy and the elements of policies, programs, and strategies that proactively and effectively address the worst employment crisis since the Great Depression. The content will challenge participants to think creatively, or rethink, the roles of community advocates, labor, the private sector, and government.

This year we are proud to partner with the BlueGreen Alliance, a national coalition of environmental groups and unions dedicated to creating a sustainable climate future for our country and the planet through clean products and jobs.

If you register for the WED Building Workforce Partnerships, you have the option to attend the entire BlueGreen Alliance’s GOOD JOBS, GREEN JOBS WEST Conference at NO EXTRA CHARGE.

About the Annual Building Workforce Partnerships Conference

Building Workforce Partnerships is about collaboration – only by working together can labor, business, government, and communities bridge the economic needs of working families and the challenge of sustainable economic recovery and growth. This unique event draws together a diverse and national group of labor leaders; local and state policy makers; community advocates; environmentalists; educators; and job training and economic development professionals to debate the critical issues of the economy and the future of our society.
